imarock44
The check engine light - on my 1995 Legacy L -started coming on after gassing up about 2 months ago. I tried the old open the gas cap and the light would go out after about 20 miles. Now this week, it takes longer for the light to go out and it comes on without gassing up or opening the cap. To top it off, when I try to start the engine, the car sputters and spits like it's being drprived of something - sometimes I can keep pumping the gas to keep it running. Other times it stalls and I have to try a few more times to keep it running. Are these signs of a bad oxygen sensor? Anybody know what it costs to have an oxygen sensor replaced? Thanks for your input.
jerseyglock
I don't know what part of Jersey you are at, talk to Rich at Precision and have him check it out. http://www.precisiontuning.com/
stanjk3
That does sound like it might be a bad O2 sensor. Haven't had that problem in our Legy, but have had it other cars. '92 Plymouth Sundance was famous for 02 sensors that often went bad. Take it to Autozone and get the code read. What type of gas do you use? Our car runs better on 89, than 87, and usually gets 1-2 mpg more. Friends don't let friends drink cheap beer.
