Legasee
Me and the wifey are going to head to Las Vegas (love driving there, especially with the GT ) on Sunday April 30th for 2 nights...just starting to get ready and was wondering what you guys recommend for; 1. Hotels- I'd like somewhere close to the middle of the strip, decent, clean rooms, and don't mind forking out up to $120 per nite, which online site is cheapest ?? 2. Buffets- I heard Rio's got killer seafood buffet, might try there...but any other suggestions would be great 3. Tours- never been on any there, but would like to take the wifey to see something different (Hoover dam, canyons, etc...) ...something haunted or ghost related stuff 4. Shows- "Q", white tiger guys (Siegfried and Roy?), wait...which one got bit in the neck?? It's been a while since I've been there so...any suggestions would be great! In Taiwan now... hondas123
I've been to Vegas a few times with the wifey. We've stayed at Bellagio, Treasure Island and Stratosphere. I've always had pretty good luck using www.expedia.com or www.travelocity.com. Bellagio was by far the nicest of the hotels we stayed. If you can see the show "O" at Bellagio. OR "Mystere" at Treasure Island. Both well worth it. My wife dragged me to Celine Dion show at Caesers Palace...it wasn't too bad. - The Mortgage Man

05BluePearlGT
When I was like 10, I went there. After 5 minutes, I was ready to go. It could be that I traveled to like 30 carribbean islands, all over the us, a few countries, etc. lol. I should try it out again though. The kids will probably enjoy it. I need to take off my intake first though, and possibly get retuned if needed.
hondas123
Yeah...Vegas is much better as an adult. (Gambling, shows, drinks,) I think at 10 I'd be ready to go too. - The Mortgage Man

I think Bellagion IS the ultimate "high end" luxury Bently of all the casinos...well..at least the most expensive hotel there...the water dance at dawn is pretty nice ....the wife's saying the shows that you recommended are too expensive (=more $$ for mods!!! )...."ok...we'll go see some cheaper shows..." silverfool
hotel- bellagio is ok, but venetian has an amazing touch of class and isn't filled with as many gawkers. dinner- buffet: bellagio is prob the best, paris and alladin not too bad. rio has lots of variety but in the end, the quality isn't much above hometown buffet imho. the big hotel buffets have great quality but you either got to eat the big ticket items or mow like a machine to get your money's worth. i'm not a big fan of trying to stuff myself til I puke like when I was younger so I like a decent quality meal- if your wife likes steak, one of the best places in the city to get one is The Steakhouse in Circus Circus: i know the prospect of crusing that far down the cheap end of town for steak seems weird, but it prob rivaled Peter Lugers in NY. tours- never took formal one but drove out to Hoover with some family once, pretty decent. I've driven to the grand canyon on a separate trip before, couldn't imagine doing it + vegas all at once but you may be like some above whom just want to drive by, see the hole in the ground and bail. shows- free: do the touristy thing if you've never been. walk along the strip, see the volcano explode at the mirage and then go inside and see the tigers. check out the water shows at both the Wynn and Bellagio. the fountain show at bellagio is one of my favorite things. paid- the Cirque de Soleil shows are cool if you are into that sorta acid trip. i've been to almost everyone and despite never having been under the influence, still dug them all. mystere (at treasure island) is prob money better spent O (at bellagio). gambling- don't play BJ. you will inadvertently always end up playing at a table with some idiot sitting 3rd base (the last seat before dealer) whom will f' it up for you. some moron whom tries to hit 15 when the dealer is showing a 2, etc. if you aren't a gambler, play Paigow poker, you'll get to play several hands, the dealers will always help you, you won't lose much (you won't win much either) and you will get to drink and hang out with wife for a long while. if you are a small time player, try to find a 3-6 limit poker game and play the premium hands and fold the rest. last words 1. know where your wallet is ALWAYS. if your wife carries a big purse, do not let her set it down when she plays anything. there are so many great scams to steal a woman's purse that it should be a full time job. 2. don't drive around town once you park. walk or take a cab or the monorail. people can't drive for sh*t, the lights suck, and pedestrians are imbeciles. park your car in a nice, well lit structure of a nice hotel (read- one that has lotsa traffic in and out at all hours). people do make a full time job outta breaking into cars parked in the dark periphery of the crappy hotels. 3. lastly, if you are from the OC/LA area, get your butt moving onto the 15 before 3pm or the ride will take you much longer, esp if you get hit in that Corona/Riverside traffic. sorry for the long post but it's rare that I can actually speak knowledgeably about something on here. panamajack
^ Oh GOD this is going to be good.
