alaskanwill
When you order a CD deck from Crutchfield, here's what they have to say regarding the free installation gear that they hook you up with: "The OEM integration package includes a replacement dash panel that matches your vehicles interior. You will need to remove the climate controls from your factory radio/trimpanel and attach them to the new kit. Only manual heater controls will work with this kit." So basically, this only applies to people with the 2.5i (and therefore without automatic climate control). Has anybody installed this? I'd like to see how Crutchfield's "replacement dash panel that matches your vehicle's interior" looks. I chatted with a sales associate today who said that pictures are unavailable. BTW, in case you're wondering why I'm asking this with my 2000 Legacy, I'm planning to get a 2006 2.5i wagon on Friday!
AKLGT
don't have a clue. but if you are getting one without the climate control, i believe it'll work. are you in AK? if so, where at? Wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle yeah!!!

fweasel
My guess is they are using the Metra piece. The color is a little off, but could easily be matched and resprayed. http://www.bryanbrazil.com/substereo.jpg ignore him, he'll go away.
PeterJMC
Congrats on the future car Alaskanwill. Somedays I wish I had manual HVAC controls...
jazzymt
Wow, now they give away the antenna adapters AND the dash kit for free? That's like $80 worth of parts. I'm impressed. I've got a 2.5i loaner today and honestly, the manual controls are a welcome relief to HAL. I'd ditch the auto climate controls in a second if I could - both to get manual controls and to get a new stereo. 2.5i FTW. bemani
They charge like $100 more than everyone else, so that makes it even.

I'd go with the manual controls too...seems easier and more effective.
