Deer Killer
16 gauge, most likely at least going to solder in some 12 gauge wire.. but the connector looks pretty damn flimsey.. I don't want to melt it down
D-2.5-GT
I think you will probably be alright. They do look a little flimsy and cheap though...I'm a fan of a nice high quality screw terminal. You spend a bunch of money on speakers, amps, etc, don't sacrifice the sound for a few wires and connectors...the difference sometimes can be amazing. arcsine
I'd go with a higher-quality wire before a thicker gague. There's no reason not to use well-insulated home audio wire, like Tributaries SP5F. At $5/ft it's not that cheap, but it's an incredible deal for 14G silver-plated 4-nines copper. You may want to silver-solder the speaker cup connectors and wrap the junction in teflon tape, two other cheap ways to boost cable response. BoxerGT2.5
I rarely use less than 8G for subs. 10-12G for components. OBAMA......One Big Ass Mistake America!
mcchicken
All depends on the efficiency of the amp and the length of power cable. What's size fuse(s) does the amp use?
Deer Killer
30/30 on the amp, 80 for the power line. I just finished soldering in two 12 gauge wires for 2 ohm with dual voice coils.. Going to hook up the amp tomorrow, let's see how it goes. The plastic is actually high quality, I was expected my soldering job to melt it down, but it's ok.
