what hid to get?

If you want the most usable light then get the 4500K. The higher you get the more blue and then purple the light gets. That kind of light really sucks when it rains or if there is any other type of bad weather. 4600K are the ones I got. You can see pictures and stuff here. They are just right if you ask me.

what kind should i get 4500k or 6000k or 8000k

if you want the best quality stuff, get a philips kit. xenondepot.com has the new ultrathin philips ballasts (they also have a sale now).

you may also want to consider the new 50 watts (40% more brightness than 35 watt HID kits) kits from the forum vendor RPM

if you want the best output and are comfortable disassembling (read: baking in oven) your headlights, get a kit from hidplanet, some member in here may try to sell you a kit for cheap, but who know where it comes from (stolen??? :iam:)?

whoever you get it from, get 4xxx (little bit yellowish but also the brightest) or 5xxxK (whiter but very slightly dimmer), anything above may get you pulled over by the cops, and not work well in bad weathers.

$289 shipped from JINSU POWER.

Cool-I flip flop on this. On the one hand, I don't do a lot of night driving, on the other I know I'd appreciate better lighting when I do. Is it expensive to replace the bulbs?

i could get hid for $216 with a year warrenty

Go for it. You can get them for $150 on ebay too. You get what you pay for when you buy HIDs though. I could have gotten better if I wanted to fork out another hundred bucks, but I trust MacCulloch as a manufactuer, so I didn't spring for the Phillips. So far I haven't had any problems I don't regret my decision.

I would say to get 12000k Purple which is what i have on my GT. really hot

Wha...? How can you even see at night with those things? 12000K HIDs can't possibly be throwing down much usable light. They probably look cool to other people, but they are really going to be useless in the rain if you want to see the road.

I have the Xtec 4500's. (35w) Absolutely LOVE them. Everytime I drive at night I am happy i bought them...and they carry a lifetime warranty. Got mine from RPM for like $330 I think? Transaction went super.

Install wasn't too bad, it took like an hour.

You'll be quite surprise how I actually see in the rain. And besides with the fogs on it kinda helps while driving in the rain. they are hot and people down here in Miami are going HID crazy over them.

12000 K might be hot as a styling statement - but that's all it is, Spec-B GT. :)

You can't lie about science, and all physical evidence and logic will point to the fact that anything above pretty much 5000 K, and you're actually getting progressively less usable light output as you get more blue/indigo/purple/violet on the spectrum.

And while you may think you're seeing decently well in the rain, thanks to the many roadway reflective surfaces embedded in the blacktop in your area of the States, this is actually quite contrary to what's actually happening as your already extremely "blue" light scatters more upon the rain droplets. No, we're not talking about true "blue scatter," but the visual effect that produces such glare and back-scatter is similar, and you are truly degrading your vision, even with your stock fogs in-use.

It's OK to be addicted to fashion. Hell, I like bling myself. :) Just so long as you know that's all it is, and isn't helping "performance" any. :)
