The test came down to two cars, the Audi A4 2.0T quattro and the Subaru Legacy 2.5 GT spec.B, that distanced themselves from the others in the test. The Subaru scored the most points in the performance category, 191.9 against the Audi's 190.0, and came in second in the subjective category, 184.3 against the Audi's 187.5. Overall, the Subaru came in #2, only 1.3 points behind the Audi out of 400 possible points. Audi earned 377.5; Subaru earned 376.2.
