ddavis
I noticed theres a big price differece between the 2 and they look pretty similar. Are they that much different? or am I blind. Im looking for some street rims other then stock.
Xenonk
SSR professor is semi solid forged.. rotas are cast, big difference of how the alloy is constructed. That particular SSR wheel is not worth it unless you get the wider version of that rim (like 18x8.5 version).. the wheel is actually heavy (so it's not like the rest of the SSR wheel lineup). Get the Rotas to drive around town in.. unless you want some "street cred" or some "bling" to show that you actually have money to toss around, you can get Volk GT-Cs or the SSRs.. Legasee
^^ but fake bolts saves you $1400 My buddy's got the SSRs on his STi and they look nice...but I couldn't tell the difference between these and the SSRs...pretty good replica, plus ROTA's got a pretty good rep and the warranty is pretty good too (I'm waiting for a set that'll our Legacy's ) In Taiwan now... EL PAALO
rota is one of the few copy makers that I like. fake bolts just irritate the hell outta me. I can understand copying a wheel's general look, but when you add a part that is completely nonfunctional it just seems wrong ............... fake blow off valves come to mind. starlabs
There's PLENTY of things on cars that are JUST for looks. I see nothing wrong with fake bolts. Maybe because I like 'em! The D2's look ok. If only the spokes were thinner. There's plenty of black spoke/polished rim wheels out there... I've been looking at a few myself but haven't seen anything that that says, "BUY ME"... and be under my budget -=- Livin life at 140 BPM -=-

ddavis
Thanks guys, Ive been looking around for a black rim with a chrome lip. I sorta like the rota grid also. Since my car is black with tinted windows, i was wanting to go with a black scheme and possibly a lil bit larger rim like a 18in. Anybody have any recomendations? Im not even sure if the d2 or the grid are even being made in 18in. I couldnt find them anywhere in that size. Pretty much im looking for a black rim with a chrome lip in 18in, that is under 200 a rim. Thanks
starlabs
You sir, are in luck. It so happens that I'm in the same exact boat, and have done some research about it... What I've found so far: http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/5836/tcevograph2fc.th.jpg Axis TC Evo Graphite 18x7.5 +42mm offset 5x100 ~$125 http://img231.imageshack.us/img231/6445/lite8blkwml2eg.th.jpg SpeedyLite Lite8 18x7.5 +42mm offset 5x100 ~$135 http://img231.imageshack.us/img231/9264/lite5blkwml2ue.th.jpg SpeedyLite Lite-5 18x7.5 +45mm offset 5x100 ~$135 http://img231.imageshack.us/img231/6626/kr206blkwpl3zl.th.jpg Kyowa KR206 18x7.5 +45mm offset 5x100 ~$152 http://img231.imageshack.us/img231/3470/kr228blkwpl2gb.th.jpg Kyowa KR228 18x7.5 +45mm offset 5x100 ~$152 http://img231.imageshack.us/img231/7393/rotasubzero1sa.th.jpg Rota Subzero 18x7.5 +48mm offset 5x100 ~$175 http://img231.imageshack.us/img231/6324/biggt5black2qc.th.jpg Tenzo Racing GT5 Not much info on these... dunno if they'll fit our cars http://img231.imageshack.us/img231/2348/bigmean6black4zx.th.jpg Tenzo Mean-6 18x7.5 +42mm offset 5x100 ~$245 http://img231.imageshack.us/img231/1212/bigpassion5black9zp.th.jpg Tenzo Passion-5 18x7.5 +42mm offset 5x100 ~$245 Now I'm no wheel expert so I don't know/guarantee that those wheels will fit our car, but I would think the majority do (the Rota's for sure). Ok the Tenzo's are definitely over $200/per, but they look the best so far, especially the Passion-5... yum! (it also looks great in silver btw) Also, prices on the Tenzos are MSRP, so you should be able to find them cheaper at real places. Most of these are "universal fitment" type of wheels so unfortunately they'll have more than 5 lug holes... Maybe we should rename this the "Official Black Wheel/Chrome Lip for LGT" thread If anybody has more wheels of this type, put 'em up! -=- Livin life at 140 BPM -=-

zildjiank
cheap www.wheelsnext.com http://www.wheelsnext.com/prod_imgs/img-1835-small.jpg Cheap...somehow that word just doesn't come to mind when I'm looking for wheels for my 30K car...I hate that word... I'd rather save and go expensive just to keep the reputation of the car looking suave, sleek, and nice... Though, rota does make some very deceitful rims... ddavis
I was wanting a black rim with a polished lip, thats the whole reason this thread was started. I do think some of those Tenzo rims are hot, so that will probaly be the route I will go. I wanted to try something different other then a silver rim. Does anyone know of anybody off hand that has black rims on this board?

And you should get 18"x8" for the better look. Keefe
1max2nv
You can get Rota P45F in BLACK with polished lip. There is a group buy for this special color combo (royal black) at NASIOC. $750 shipped for 18X8. I'm on the list for a set. http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=898850 Same wheel but different color. http://www.rotawheels.com/images/products/p45f.jpg
ddavis
Cool wheels Xenonk. Have you had a problem with paint holding up on them? Hey 1max2nv , That looks like a nice deal, but thats not with the chrome lip right? Its just a black lip. If it had a chrome lip like this pic, then I might would be in. http://www.filefarmer.com/g0tb00st/beast/IMG_0022.jpg

The paint on mine was fine and the shop only painted and clear coated the spokes. The lip itself was not coated, so you need some special attention and clean them occassionally from the brake dust baking into the lip. It all depends on the shop and what you are planning to pay for the rims to be painted. You can a good wheel shop to polish the painted lip or do what I did and get the wheel repainted and recoated with a clearcoat to make it bling.. expect to pay about $120/rim for that kind of customization.. ddavis
1max2nv I would be down for the buy with the 18in royal rim, if the full lip was polished and not just a ring like the red and black p45's. Let me know if you have any more information on how these rims will be made. Heres a pic of a couple of rims i put together from subydudes site to make what I think you are talking about. If they are being designed like this then add me to the list. http://www.ddavisart.com/blkp45.jpg
