(Legacy 2005) Installed 3rd party head unit, now factory stereo illumination (red-glowing ones) are not working

Hi,

i wanted to seek your good advice here.

Around 4 years back, i got myself an Android head-unit to replace the small storage-department on top of the factory stereo. I did not think much of it until i realised that while dimming the car dash in general and the stock-stereo displays DID work, the illumination (reg-glowing rings + button backlights) where not functioning any longer.

Back then, i checked every fuse (both left of the steering-wheel, but also in the engine bay) but they all were fine.

Fast forward one year and i replace this HU with a much upgraded one (first image) which is a TS-10. Still the red-glow is not there and so with having examined the fuses, i took the (bad) decision to source another stereo (working one) to replace my original one. Well, guess what. The new one did not have glowing illumination either...

Sooo... There must be something else at play here and i'm thinking that perhaps the Y-harness (going from the car into a 2-piece that connects with both the factory stereo and the HU) that comes with these head-units lacks certain connections (illumination)?

So here is where i'm seeking your advice: Given the above, could it be that pin #1 out from the car connector is actually not connected to the original stereo any longer? (according to the page here: https://ae64.com/Legacy-pinout.htm it would be a violet wire coming out from the car)

I assume (as the dimming facility seems to work) that pin #7 (black/white) is connecte as that part works.

Have anyone here encountered this?

This is the TS-10 (current - with clock relocation done as well)

(the old and slow head-unit that got on my nerves as it was extremely slow)
