Colorado tune questions

My '05 LGT 5MT wagon is just about due for an engine rebuild, and I'm putting together the plan.  I'm planning on a VF52 build, and one of the big questions is, do I stick with stock fueling or go stage 3?  A big contributing factor to that decision is emissions.  So this question is for Colorado residents with stage 3 builds.  At emissions time, when I put on the stock downpipe and flash the stock tune, will that work with bigger injectors, or do I have to put on stock injectors?

Second question, also for Colorado residents: can anyone recommend good shops in the Denver metro area for head rebuilds?

I'm at 900-1000ft altitude here in South Carolina. I run a vf52 with aem pump and stock everything else fueling, obviously tuned. With a stock tune, the vf52 will push too much air for stock injectors.

I'd quickly guess that if we could run stock tunes with the vf52 just by upping the injector, more people would do that as a short cut. 

Since you're swapping in the stock downpipe, I wonder if it would be worth it to swap back on the stock turbo. A few more bolts, and you're right there anyway? 

Having said all that, Dave will probably give you a more definitive answer.

Just ask your tuner to hook you up with a stock tune scaled to your injectors and stay out of boost for emission testing. Does your downpipe not have a cat? Does Colorado no longer allow aftermarket downpipes even with cats?

Hey! I'm down in Colorado Springs.  I hope the engine rebuild goes well.  I had my car tuned out of the state (05 OBXT) and currently have bigger turbo (BNR 18g), injectors, DP, TMIC, etc.  I like the setup, but I am planing to add parts for e85.

If you want injectors, once I get everything situated, my 740cc side feeds will drop right into your setup.  I would suggest a bigger fuel pump and upgraded wiring though too (~$200 max probably).

 

It won't effect emissions.  Your cat has to be CARB compliant in Denver, so watch out for that.  

I agree with @BoozeRS05 regarding Cryotune... lots of info and support here from them and they would know where to get your heads rebuilt.
