low_suby_wagon
Here's the problem, I have an aftermarket tach basic 3 wire design. switched hot for light power, ground, and signal in (pulsed ground). I hooked it up, but it reads 1/2 of the factory tach. I know this is because on the coil pack the two sides have different negative pulses. I was wondering if i run a "jumper" wire to get full signal will this short anything like the cpu or make a code? Local suby dealer said no, it's OK to do, but reserved to give me absoulute no just in case I guess cause their not wiring it. Any ideas:icon_ques
Xenonk
you can run a jumper... btw, why do you have an aftermarket tach?? Keefe
low_suby_wagon
Thanks, well first of all it started out as decrative, it matches my gauges, then I said well, if I am going to have it in let me have it work correctly. It is also in a great line of sight, I don't have to take my eyes off the road.
Xenonk
I dont even bother looking at the tach anymore, even on my track days.. I would say sell it and get yourself a small red shift light instead. Keefe
low_suby_wagon
Hmmm, how would I set it up? I don't want to redline but close like 6&1/2 K. Could I do it with a factory tach?
Xenonk
there are modules out there for shift lights that can read and that you can set to go off at any user preset rpms you want. my old HKS Type 1 turbo timer does just that for me back then.. you can find various types of shift light indicators for your use.. I'll have to dig up a list of products that are similar to what you are looking for.. if you are just looking for a visual cue to know when to shift, a small LED shift light indicator is what you are looking for that you just mount on top of the dash.. too bad this doesnt work for our cars (due to the fact that our ECU doesnt have an vehicle speed sensor to tap into, but you can tap into the ABS unit instead) but my brother's WRX has something similar [but more bling] than this: http://www.speedwerks.com/catalog/c0m0bm0b0s1pn0p4945np0 http://www.speedwerks.com/production-images/4945.jpg http://www.raptorperformance.com/ http://www.raptorperformance.com/images/Shift%20Light%20Size.jpg http://www.raptorperformance.com/images/ColorChart.jpg or use Pivots: http://us.st11.yimg.com/store1.yimg.com/I/racinglab_1873_41001953 http://store.racinglab.com/piaushupinli.html want something more fancy? http://www.atectuning.nl/images/shiftlightindicator.jpg http://www.atectuning.nl/assets/s2dmain.html?http://www.atectuning.nl/10000094c90f58601/10000095231263e01/10000095eb0961005/ want something with a lower profile? http://thedynoshop.net/racelightanim.gif http://thedynoshop.net/bmw.jpg http://thedynoshop.net/shift_light.htm btw, tell me why again that you need a shift light? Isn't your car an auto? Keefe
