SLegacy99 Posted December 18, 2005 Share Posted December 18, 2005 A month ago my dash lights went out. I turned the lights off then on again and they were fine. Happened again 1 week later. So tonight Im driving and my speedo cuts out. Tach still reads. Restart car does the same thing but comes back. I drove about 45 miles after that without a problem. Whats the deal? GTsleeper Posted December 19, 2005 Share Posted December 19, 2005 check basics-grounds,power supply,charge rate,connectors to dash,circuit board(s) in dash cluster itself could be bad. basic first in less there maybe tsb's on it or a common problem peopl know about u could look for. Im tempted to call SOA and tell them to send a manual to their repair shop. EDIT: Nevermind. Seems that this is a common problem among the '99s. Looking for a recall right now because this is a safety issue. In most cases the speedometer sensor head had to be replaced. Otherwise it was a wiring harness that melted. Not good Subaru. I guess they removed the existing sensor because now my speedo dont read at all. Kind of annoying. Leaving the dealer my CEL came on and the car wont go above 4200 RPMs. Related?
