xiaoyue1990
Hi guys, Just curious if you have experienced the same with your XT models: 1) when I start the car, the engine would need like 3 to 4 minutes to lower the RPM from ~1500 to <1000, and then stay at that number. 2) if I don’t wait for the RPM to go down (i.e. shift to R or D at 1500 RPM), I can hear a “latching” sound which I assume is the CVT connecting to shaft. That sound is like that when you turn off your faucet ( to the best of my capability to describe). My questions: 1) I know that a higher RPM is typically set at first to properly lubricate the cylinders, but does your XT also take this long? 2) Is that latching sound normal? Thanks in advance!!! caddygti16v
1: It revs that high in the beginning to get the catalytic converter up to temperature quicker. Completely normal. 2: Yes, normal also. The colder it gets it also adds a whining sound like a supercharger but that's usually not till it gets sub zero. NORULZleggy
My13 legacy does the same thing. It has about 160k miles and serviced like a champ. no problems.
