hadvw
Just wondering if anyone has put together a cheap car computer, for say under $200? If so, what did you use? Here's what I'd like to do, most interesting first.. -log ECU data and display realtime -in-car GPS/nav (obviously pay extra for GPS + software) -music/DVDs? -wireless network? I wouldn't mind running linux and even writing some of the code myself.. I've also looked at one of these.. http://www.gp32z.com/gp2xinfo.html Thoughts? For $189 w/ a 3.5" LCD, and plays movies/display pictures, etc.. HV
rallispec
200 dollars counting the monitor? I have one - it's not installed in my car though. (and i'm debating whether or not i'm actually going to go through with it) anyhow, i'm running on a via epia m10000 board and a 40 gig laptop drive (link to epia board) i think the entire setup cost maybe $220-ish minus a monitor. (no NAV, just mp3's and wifi right now (no dvd drive)) The via board is decent, not the best - but it works great for what it was meant for. (low power usage, rugged, extremely low profile)

It's not that I think I DESERVE a kit that cheap, it's more that that's all I can reasonably expect to spend, given a mortgage, etc.. Housing in California is expensive :-( HV
