No Power to Rear Wheels, Center Diff? Any other ideas?

Hello everyone,

I have a 1998 Subaru Legacy 2.5GT Automatic transmission that currently has no power to rear wheels. Up on jacks the rears do not move at all with the car in drive. More telling, driving around on icy roads today, cannot get back tires to spin at all. I can not only feel this, but had friends on both sides watching.

What I know for sure:

No Power to rear wheels

FWD fuse is not in

No lights on dash, the AT TEMP does not blink on startup

No binding/grinding at any time, low speed tight turns etc...

I have some ideas, but I don't want to start replacing things if it could be something else. Any ideas would be appreciated!

Pull the dip stick for the front diff and see if its a gray color. When my viscus coupler (5mt) went bad, it leaked its fluid into the 75w-90 gear lube and turned it gray. It then began to eat the bearings.

I also had no rear wheel drive.

305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD).  CHECK your oil, these cars use it.
