coco26 Posted December 28, 2020 Share Posted December 28, 2020 The refrigerant charge has an oil mixed in with it to lubricate the compressor - If the refrigerant is extracted, you'll likely also lose a good portion of that oil which could damage the compressor. Not much system oil is lost when evacuating refrigerant from the service valves Besides, the compressor will not be rotating as the pressure switch will not allow the compressor clutch to engage with no refrigerant.
