SubyNZ
Hi I'm new to this forum, recently joined as I am having troubles with my car and looking for some advice. I recently purchased a 2006 Subaru Legacy BL5 2.0 turbo 5 speed manual. I bought the car as not running with the following issues: I have done a basic diagnostic test with the following codes: ECM : P1571 Reference code incompatibility IUM : B0201 CAN-HS counter abnormal SRS : codes 71 and 11 - airbag failure Mechanic has told me I need to replace ECM and BCM. Another person has told me it is an immobilizer issue and potentially they can program it out, but not 100 percent sure fix. Other details: previous owner said the car had been broken into and ignition broken they changed the ignition and had it programmed with a new key and chip - i'm unsure if this could be causing the current issues as they said it was running after the fix? I have found another key, immobilizer, ecm, bcm etc but it is from an b-sport automatic model and i'm wondering if I would be able to program it to work. Any help or advice would be great, i'm just trying to figure out what my options are and if I can potentially fix it myself or at least make it much easier and cheaper for an auto electrician. Marvick08GT
The first code references immobilizer function. The body control module probably needs replaced and the keys need programmed to the new BCM. The second code references the body control module. Srs codes you can clear and ignore for now. Good luck! SubyNZ
Hey thanks for the reply. Been researching my options but i'm kind of on a low budget for this car at the moment having too many other projects as well, so i'm trying to find the cheapest or best way to fix it myself as I don't really want to be paying big $$$ at the dealership having things programmed with SSM to work. If it is an immobilizer issue would it be possible to swap the eeprom chips from another ecu, bcm, cluster to mine, I can't find these items for my model 2l turbo manual, so im trying to see if i can just swap the eeprom chips for the immobilizer function from same year 2l non turbo auto model. Im unsure if these will be different though in terms of eeprom chips or compatibility with my setup. If anyone can let me know if this would be possible / compatible would be great help thanks. If not i might just take the gamble and try it anyway Might order a tactrix 2.0 as well, anyone know if this will be useful?
