05 LGT code P2008 Intake manifold runner control circuit/open bank 1a

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I need assistance with P2008 code, Intake manifold runner control circuit/open bank 1a. I'm getting some mixed info here on the forum from what I've been reading and before I mess around with my car, I thought I'd check with you guys first :)

First, it's a completely stock 05 LGT, no mods.

I got the code about a month ago and it went on its own. Yesterday I noticed a little stutter when engine is cold but when it warms up fully after about 10 min of driving, it's fine. I have CEL since yesterday.

I've been reading about TGVs and whatever. I kind of have an idea what they are, but I don't want to mess with it before I fully understand.

What I've been reading here it could be as simple as connector issue.

I guess, first question is, what is the best way to get this issue troubleshooted?

Where is this TGV located for this particular code? Where is this sensor and its connector? I'd like to visually check the cable to ensure there is no damage, however, there has been no work done to the vehicle recently that could cause damage to cables or connectors.

Thank you!

The TGVs are located between the intake manifold (plastic) and the head. The fuel injectors go into the bottom the TGV at the head. Bank 1 should be passengers side. The sensor is on the rear on the passenger side TGV and motor is on the front. The sensor can be damaged when pulling the banjo bolt filter. Ask me how I know.

Thank you for confirming. Now I know it's passanger aide, this ia great info.

However, when I got that cel with p2008 code few weeks ago, I cleared the code and yesterday cel came back but now it throwing a different code, p0172 fuel system rich.

Any idea what this could be? Is it fuel injector?

When I had fuel injector go bad on cyl #2 few years back, it was a different code, cant remember the code but it was misfire on cyl#2.

Any ideas? Tyia

Perhaps the tgv valve isn’t opening all the way letting less air pass causing the too rich code. I think the accessport v3 has a monitor for tgv (not sure though but I can check mine later) but as you stated the car is completely stock so I’m thinking you’re not using one. A live data type scanner may display that info as well but you’d have to do your research on that. If you’re planning on keeping the car for a while an accessport may be a good investment. It is a great tool for diagnostics and as others have stated here that the stage one tune included apparently cleans up potential issues with the cars factory tune. There are other options too like BTssm to look into. I guess what I’m getting at is these cars often times are best diagnosed electronically unless you want to load up the parts cannon and fire away.
