2Quiker
So i took my car into the dealer because i was smelling exhaust. They replaced the portion of the catalytic converter but after driving it 3 days i noticed my mpg dropped. I went from averaging 28 mpgs to now 21 mpg. They did also replace cam seals and sprark plugs. Anyone know what might be going on?
08SpecB_DE
They probably reset the ecu so now you see the change based on the short time it's been driven as opposed to thousands of miles beforehand.
2Quiker
I reset the mpg gauge thing everytime i fill up so iam keep an eye on mpgs. I have driven it 89 miles since i got back.
waldguy
I would suggest that 89 miles is not sufficient to determine a drop due to the possibility of varied weather and traffic conditions. In addition, using the computer estimate could also be problematic due to recalculation (as above post indicates). I'd only get concerned if, after a couple of tanks, actual fuel consumption was higher as measured at the pump.

I could be wrong but it seems as nothing to account for a drop in fuel economy. The car is not throwing any codes.
