kanoswrx Posted August 6, 2004 Share Posted August 6, 2004 I use my PDA as a NAV system, works amazingly well and cheaper then stand alone GPS systems. Not to mention you also get a PDA that plays mp3's/movies :) I have a older cassiopeia with a bluetooth card and bluetooth gps device. I plan on upgrading the PPC soon to something with a 4" screen and vga resolution. I can still use the same gps device as its seperate and portable. Garmin (GPS fanatics) are introducing a small unit "Quest" It lays horizontal, not vertical, and will fit the storage area above the clock. However, it is $2000AUD here whereas its $500USD in the States. A friend purchased his from the States and brought it here, and bought the OZ map at a local dealer in Adelaide. Hey presto! It works very well. I mainly use it when I am towing my Airstream trailer (not with my Legacy!) and can't afford to make wrong turns or try to read a map. I found [url]http://www.semsons.com[/url] to have good prices and customer service. I like my GPS set-up so much, I just bought a Dell Axim for my Dad so I can set him up with GPS. Since this is the first Nav i have ever used be4, i think it works pretty good. It has the same Nav system as the other TomTom PDAs, so they work basically the same. However, it somes time does not provide the shortest driving distance, and some places cannot be located. it comes with a 256mb SD, which is really more than enough for storing maps. the speaker is loud and clear, but it wont be able to pronounce the street or road's name; it will just tell you when to turn left, right or, how many feets to go. the reception is Okay, yet depends on where you are. i gues it will be much better if you have the antenna option. btw, there are a lot of better reviews on google, which might be very useful to you! it is said that tomtom go is a hit in Europe. to sum up, TomTom Go is very easy to use, the Point of interest are accurate, and doesnt look like the PDA. the battery can last for 5 hours, and the display is very bright. for 700 bucks, i think this Nav is not bad! anyways, i still think there are more choices in the market. so, do more searchings before your purchase! good luck! and brady_bunch, sure i know !!! :oops: :D :D :D :D Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
