Subaru Reports July Sales; Legacy Posts Best Ever July Sales; Up 12 Percent From Previous Year Tuesday August 3, 6:17 pm ET CHERRY HILL, N.J., Aug. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Subaru of America, Inc., the only car company that features Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive as standard equipment on every vehicle in its product line, today reported total sales for July of 17,596 units. The all-new 2005 model year Legacy posted a best ever total for the month of July, breaking the Legacy sales record set back in July 2001. Legacy sales, including the redesigned 2005 model year Outback, recorded a 12 percent increase from the previous year. Specifically, the Legacy model line recorded 8,654 units, while the Subaru Outback recorded strong sales of 5,849 units for the month. Subaru Forester posted 5,455 units in July. The Impreza line recorded 2,867 unit sales, while Subaru Baja recorded sales of 620 units for the month.

Confused a bit. They lump outbacks in with legacys when they talk about the 12% increase, but then then they qoute a number for the Legacy "line" and outback seperately. So, did they Sell 8654 or 2805 (8654-5849) non-outback legacys? I would guess that its the former. Even so, an almost 2:1 outback to legacy ratio would still be a pretty big increase, right?
