Upper radiator hose collapses when cooling down

Recommended Posts

2.5 XT

I have noticed the upper radiator hose collapsing after the car is shut down. It goes back to shape after car is started back up. No over heating issues.

I replaced both caps, upper hose and burped the cooling system.

It is still collapsing. What's my next step?

Take off the rad cap and blow into the expansion tank hose, see if there's a clog in the nipple, etc.

First wash the hose thoroughly; ethylene glycol is tasty but not nutritious.

Sounds like you're due for a good chemical flush. Any problems with the heater, particularly passenger side?

What he said. Sound like reservoir hose is clogged.
