Diesel_Jeremiah
I've always wanted to have my marker lights as running lights, though I wanted to use the OEM wiring. Here's how I did it: Parts: 1ea SPST "four post" relay 1ea 10amp mini fuse 1ea mini fuse diode (see attached picture at bottom) 2ea mini fuse holder (See attached picture at bottom) Approx 2' of wire T-taps and connectors Switch of your choice Disassembly: Remove the trim around the column. Remove the trim around the shifter. Once the trim is removed around the column, you'll find the connector your looking for a four wire with only 3ea wires; Orange, Tan, Tan W/Green line. http://legacygt.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=265071&d=1526099529http://legacygt.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=265070&d=1526099519 Now you'll tap into the Orange and Tan wires. One wire goes to "30" and the other "87" on the relay. (I don't think it matters which) If you pry up on the "M" looking plastic and push on the pin, you can un-pin the Tan W/Green. http://legacygt.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=265072&d=1526099541http://legacygt.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=265074&d=1526099567 The picture below shows the plastic tab and the metal pin, place something small between the two and pull the wire out. http://legacygt.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=265073&d=1526099556 Next, I drilled my switch into the plastic by my shifter. I tied the switch into the cig lighter for ACC power. You'll wire the output of your switch to "85" on the relay, the positive to ACC, and the negative to a good ground. I wired "86" of the relay into the same ground. http://legacygt.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=265076&d=1526099586http://legacygt.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=265075&d=1526099578 Relay is tucked out of the way all wired up to the switch. http://legacygt.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=265077&d=1526099603 Here is where the trickiest part was. Connect the Tan W/Green to the Orange wire, utilizing the mini fuse holder and mini fuse diode. Make sure the diode is going the correct direction. http://legacygt.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=265078&d=1526099603 Button everything back up! Now, if you wired everything correctly: 1) The rocker switch on the column will turn on the marker lights with the car off. 2) The turn signal lever will dim the dash lights and turn on the marker lights when the car is running. 3) Your new switch will turn on the marker lights with the car running without dimming your dash lights.
