Who in this world would have thought that a post about selling a car without first changing the oil within a year was for real and illegal???

Do you get out much in Alabama?

Next time I'll take your advice:wub:

Enjoy your car...and don't forget to change your oil:lol:

Take a look at a uoa on the factory fill.

What's your point? I see a fairly normal profile plus a lot of molybdenum (probably MoS2 assembly lube) and somewhat higher than normal wear metals (typical during break-in). It would probably be more enlightening to see an analysis of the oil fill in a brand-new vehicle.

I still have never seen a reference to "break-in" oil in any of the Subaru owner or technical manuals. That alone doesn't mean they don't use one, but if it were important you'd think they would at least mention it somewhere.

Back in the 60's and 70's we talked about break-in oil. The idea was that the first oil change should be done at about 500 miles. This was done to get rid of all the metal shavings that this initial batch of oil would pick up during the first few miles. There was nothing special about the oil, it was just that engines were pretty crappy.
