Rust/ Windshield Moulding

I'm trying to solve some rust issues on the roof of my 2005 outback xt.

I have some rust bubbling near windshield.

My main question is whether or not the moulding is removable, without taking out the windshield. I haven't been able to make much sense of the diagrams I'm looking at.

I've seen a lot of BMWs where you can just pull the moulding and replace it. I'd really like to investigate how far the rust goes, without committing to taking off the windshield.

 

The rust is on the top right corner of the windshield.
