az645
I just received my new 2018, 3.6 R limited with Starlink system. I noticed that it has a Wi-Fi seting on the menu. What is this for updating the system via Wi-FI?

az645
perfect thanks! Love the 2018 and updates, I just upgraded from a 2011 3.6R. Had to get the 2018, especially if they end up getting rid of this engine option.
securityguy
Yes, most updates can be done via WiFi. No they cannot! This is a future feature that has not been activated by Subaru. It does absolutely nothing and you should leave it unconnected from your home's WiFi as several folks have been getting error messages on the head units based on having nothing for the head unit to ultimately connect to. All updates are done via a USB stick at the dealership.
ammcinnis
... most updates can be done via WiFi. Some day, maybe, but not now. Also, MY 2018 only. SubieN8
Both our 2018 Crosstrek and my car say "Your system is up to date", each time we enter and leave our garage. Call SOA, they will inform you that I am correct. The 2018 Legacy and Outback as well as the 2017 and 2018 Impreza and Crosstrek ALL download software updates via WiFi. Please check your facts before answering.
