Subiegirl99
Hey everyone. I have a '99 Legacy L wagon. (I assume it's a 30th anniversary because it has the alloy wheels and sunroof, but no badge. Not sure how to tell for sure) Anyways, I live in the Mid Atlantic and we've been receiving periods of rain the last couple weeks. My passenger side front and rear floorboards are soaking wet!! Only the passenger side though. I originally thought that maybe the sunroof drains were the culprit, but the headliner is dry as a bone, so I'm not sure that's the case. The dash is also dry. Any suggestions on where the water could be coming in? I can't stand the musty smell!
doublechaz
Mine was leaking around the windshield for a while, but I got a new one and that fixed it. The shop said that the glue was dried out and shrunk. I don't know jack about window mounting, so I didn't know if I believed him, but the leak did go away, so turns out that is a legit thing. That glass was old when I got the car like 12+ years ago.
lockmedic
Check your evap drain. It's a little rubber hose up underneath the dash on the passenger side that drains condensate from the evap box. They get dislodged or clogged sometimes. Video is of a newer generation but the hose is in pretty much the same place.
FiveZigen
Check in front of your windshield underneath the plastic trim piece (you need to remove the wipers and trim) that your wipers sit on right in the corners where your fenders are. Leaves and debris clog the small drain holes and cause water to back up and overflow into the fresh air intake. You should also clean out under the fender in the corner closest to your mirrors as these get clogged up as well and cause the problem you are experiencing. It is nearly always misdiagnosed as a sunroof leak and 99% of the time is debris plugging the drains mentioned above. Once these two spots have been cleared you wont have the problem any more. Had this on two of my 2nd Gens. Ryan Hey everyone. I have a '99 Legacy L wagon. (I assume it's a 30th anniversary because it has the alloy wheels and sunroof, but no badge. ZMAN24250
I know they’re saying a few things but check your sunroof drains. This is what happened to me and I just fixed it a few weeks ago. The passenger footwell front and rear were soaked but the headliner and dash were dry. The sunroof drain hose had popped off. It’s pretty easy to check. Just peel up the corner of the headliner after you remove some trim and such and you’ll see it. Apparently it’s common for the hose to pop off the barbed end. Push the hose back on and throw a zip tie on it for good measure and you should be good to go. Also, take the pass. seat out and peel up the carpet and let it dry thoroughly once the leak is found. That might help the musty. If the smell is still around after everything is dry, apparently ozium is the sh*t from what I've always heard. ProvUnitV
I had a similar problem with the car. I had to contact a cleaning company to clean my mats. I don't know how it happened, but once I got into the car, I noticed that the mats on the front seats were completely wet, although I remember that I closed the windows in the car. It was a good thing that I had a day off and called the cleaning company majesticflooddamagerestoration.com.au. After that, I went to the salon with clean and dry mats so that they would explain to me what had happened. They told me that perhaps somewhere in the windows, there is a gap through which water can flow, and they suggested finding it. I decided that it is better to solve this problem now and not face it ever again. And the specialists solved it very quickly. That's the story.
