Leptronix bluetooth compatibility

I've had the Leptronix aux-in mod installed in my 05 LGT for almost 10 years, but am just getting around to upgrading to bluetooth. Yes, I'm slow on this, but the aux-in just worked. If I plug in any bluetooth module pulling power from one of the 12V aux power receptacles, I get no sound, and I've tried a few differed bluetooth modules. However, if I unplug the aux cable part way, I do get sound. Also, if I use an external power source like a laptop USB port, everything works perfectly. Any ideas as so how to rectify this? I think the power polarity must be inverted somewhere, but that's just a wild guess based on aux cable behavior.
