powbmps
The 05 is rated at 230 hp/242 lb.-ft. The 06 is rated at 215 hp/222 lb.-ft. The engine is the same. I smell inflated numbers for the 05. I was thinking of buying the 05 and then suing Toyota. Does this sound like a good plan?

05LegacyGT330Ci
Its because they are using a new method of accounting for horsepower. The new method has brought down many Japanese manufacturers horsepower rating and brought up some American ratings. The method isn't new but just being used now as an official rating system. powbmps
05Legacy- You are right. There is a brief mention of this in the 'Tech Tidbits' section from Road & Track. They say that these new standardized methods (newly enforced) generally show horsepower reductions of 2-5 percent.

RobY
Now that you just announced to the world what your plan is, I don't think you will get very far in court You dont live in the US. He will get plenty far in court. The country where a doctor was driven to bankrupcy because he told his assistant to go out and get sandwiches at subway. His assistant ran a stop sign hit a car and injured some people. Somehow a judge in this country found it fair for the victim of the accident to collect from the doctor take his life earnings liquidate all his assets and drive him completely out of business. Even when he had nothing to do with it other than telling his assistant to go get some lunch for the office. But I digress...
