120A Main Fuse - Alternative to OEM

Recommended Posts

Just an FYI in case anyone runs into this in the future, the following is suitable alternative to the ludicrously priced 23.00 OEM version:

It does require slight modification, but for 3.60 you cant beat it.

Basically, I cut it down the copper to the required length using snips. Using the old fuse as a template, I used a sharpie to mark the originals hole placement. Used a drill to cut through. In retrospect, you could probably get away with just cutting an open ended square indentation instead trying to maintain an enclosed hole; as long as it makes contact with the screws that hold it place. Works great so far.

I was a jackass and dropped a wrench onto the exposed alternator wire. A few sparks later (along with a slightly fused wrench) it popped the main fuse. Beats waiting on Subaru to ship one to you. None of the dealerships had them handy.
