If you shut the car and lock the doors with the remote twice, they should shut off. If you're leaving the accessory power on to listen to the radio, your lights will stay on. They will stay on for a loooong time - like 3-4 minutes if you don't exit the vehicle. What I do is turn off the car, turn the headlight knob to "O" (off), then back to auto.
