going into red line

Recommended Posts

Hello again from Idaho,

Last weekend I went over to Jackson Hole from Sun Valley. When I was using the sportshift in 2nd gear the car passed the redline by 1000rpm I thought the engine would cut out at redline.

Is this going to hurt the engine? Is my tranny defective?

I also maxed the speed 3 times on the car. fricken fast as heck.

Also it corners real well with the new 18" wheels and my wide ovel tires.

I hope ther cops do not moniter this site.:icon_surp

Don't blame Firestone because Ford designed a POS

If I remember correctly there was a recall on the Sportshift progrmaing becasue of just this. It may have been on the H6 only though, I can't remember. There's no real reason to go much past redline except in maybe 1st gear to get a lil more out of it. In the other gears, there just isn't much power up there.

STi has a top speed up near 160. we run out of gears around 145 at stock redline. If you use the AP 7200 redline yopu could probly get up to around 153ish. but I wouldn't feel too good about keeping my engine at that high rpm for that long
