Glimpse into JDM EJ20Y

Recommended Posts

I'm doing a partial teardown of a JDM EJ20Y out of a 2004 Legacy 2.0 GT Spec.B. How do I know it's out of a Spec.B? It came mounted with the original 5MT with a 4.44 ratio.

The EJ20X/Y doesn't seem to have that many pictures of itself posted around the net, so I figured this may be useful.

Here's some shots of the Z20 Heads partially disassembled.

I'm replacing the oil pump, oil pickup, oil baffle, water pump, and thermostat with higher performance parts in hopes that the motor will be more resilient later on.

This motor is kind of dirty, but only has 45,000 (~30k miles) Kilometers on it.

If anyone more familiar with this particular motor can recommend other preventative work that can be done while it is this far apart I would be eternally grateful.
