Rear diff swap on Legacy 2.5i 2005 MY

Hello everybody.

I'm considering to swap stock open rear diff on legacy 2.5i 4EAT to Torsen rear diff.

Currently I see following ways to complete this swap:

1. As it is said in diff FAQ topic, Torsen diff can be found in 2007-2009 spec b/3.0r. In this case, I can get new or used diff assembly, rear drive shafts and try to swap it in. Main problem of this way is gear ratio. I need to get stock 4.111 and service manual says that Torsen in 07-09 Spec b has 3.545 (39/11).

The questions are:

- is that true, that 07-09 Spec b Torsen rear diff (38410AA140) is R180 and NOT R160?

- if 07-09 Spec b Torsen rear diff is R160 (I think it's not), is it possible to use stock 4.111 hypoid gear and pinion with 07-09 Spec b Torsen rear diff?

2. Second way is to use aftermarket LSD Diff. First of all I'm considering Quaife ATB Helical LSD model QDH2Y. On Quaife site it is said that this diff should be installed in open R160 diff case, and that it can be installed in Subaru Legacy 1993-00.

Questions, related to this way, are:

- has anybody real experience of installing this diff into 05-09 naturally aspirated Legacy/Outback?

- and if so, which rear axels should I use?

Thank you, for your assistance.

P.S.: Sorry for my english. It's not my native language.
