Replacing Gauge cluster, Immobilizer

Recommended Posts

PO tried to replace the Canadian gauge cluster on my '05 LGT to american and damaged the immobilizer chip on the circuit board.

Car runs, warning lights work but the gauges dont move.

I learned, that if I wanted to do this myself, along with the cluster I have to replace the keys, BIU and engine ECU.

That seemed excessive, I took it to the dealer to sync the american cluster to the canadian BIU. Long story short, canadian BIU is coded differently, american dealer equipment was unable to program it.

I found a wrecked LGT, pulled ECU, BIU, keys, gauge cluster and installed in my car. Car runs, cluster works, but apparently the keyless entry control module is not happy because I'm unable to unlock my trunk remotely.

Where is the keyless entry control module located? Anything else I'm missing?

I'm gonna give it one last shot before bothering the dealer again.

So does it not unlock with the remote at all?

The remote module is on the passenger side, take out the glove box and it should be right there.

after the ECU/BIU/cluster swap the remote will unlock the doors only. when pressing the trunk button, it only beeps.

I'm wondering if the keyless entry module needs to be registred with BIU.

In general, when replacing the keyless entry module, does BIU need programming?
