vtdog
'16 Legacy Ltd w/Nav I have purposely not put my phone contacts (Galaxy-Android) on the car as I don't want to mix my contacts with others who might be driving. I was trying to determine how to put "standard" contacts (home, main cell numbers, etc.) on car from call history list, but cannot figure it out. I went to section on phone and saw adding contact via call history, but am unable to get that to work. My phone does sync with the car and I have no problems using phone to get/receive calls. So, I guess I have two basic questions: 1. If I allow my contact list to syncwith the car, does my contact list get transferred to the car, or does it remain on my phone and just gets "used" by the car when I request. 2. Is it possible to just program numbers into the car for use by all drivers? Thanks
cerbomark
my understanding is, 1. just gets used by car and also stays on phone. When phone leaves car so does contact list. 2. I don t believe so, at least I don t know how.
chowser51
Yes to above. If phone is not connected there are no contacts in the car. When your phone syncs up that is when the car reads your phone lists.
vtdog
So, if what you guys are saying about the contact info remaining on the phone is true then why does the owners manual say to clear out the phone data when you sell the car
chowser51
It means delete your phone from bluetooth devices. I sold my '06 BMW in 2012. Two years later I pull it over and as I walk up and talk to the driver I see my iphone reconnect to the car because they still recognize each other. Yes I still had the same iphone for that long. I don't change phones every few years. I run them into the ground just like my cars.
