rmpoetzl
I am a complete newbie to all things subaru. I picked up a 2001 2.5 outback that needed a new sub frame. So thats done and it went fine.but now im trying to address the idle issue. From what i have read its seems the logical place to start is replacing the iacv. Yes? Or maybe the tps yes? It sounds like this issue can be hard to track down so if anyone could just point me in the right direction i would be so grateful. Oh an it did clean the iacv with alcohol and q tips and put a new gasket on. Thanks. ehsnils
I suspect that the code you have is: P1507 Idle Control System Malfunction (Fail Safe) No "o" in the fault code please. In this case I'd suggest that you remove the throttle body and clean it. Also check hoses for leaks, clean the MAF and check the injectors. RustyRuu
nuetral switch is a pretty common fix for this, don't splurge for the new IACV yet. check the wire and connection first. carb spray or cigars are a nice easy way to check for vac leaks
rmpoetzl
So i cleaned the iacv and nothing changed. So I then bought both the neutral safety switch and the idle air control valve thinking I would put the neutral safety switch in first and if that fixed it I would return the other part I put the neutral safety switch in didn't change anything turns out it was the idle air control valve thanks for all your input i wouldent have known about the nss issue. But now i know mine is good for future diagnosis Sent from my SM-N920P using Tapatalk
