seiyafan
So I took my car to a local shop for oil change, after new oil was added the engine was left running for a while then the mechanic showed me the dipstick, the level was half way between the min. and max. marking. After I drove home that night and checked the oil level again myself, the level had gone up above the max. marking (I'd say it's about half a quart over), is this how it suppose to behave? cww516
Yeah, that's pretty normal. Check again after it's been sitting for half an hour or so, it should be a little more in line with what you'd expect to see.
ehsnils
Level shall always be checked when engine isn't running and has been stopped for a few minutes. Too much oil is also bad since it can come back into the intake through the crankcase ventilation or cause seals to pop out.
