Rims for snow tires--what approach do you recommend that I take?

I'm planning on ordering snow tires and rims for my LGT soon.

I'm pondering what approach should I take for choosing rims. Should I:

- buy inexpensive aftermarket rims for my snow tires;

- use the stock rims for my snow tires, and buy better aftermarket rims, stock size;

- use the stock rims for my snow tires, and buy better aftermarket rims, plus-one size;

- get a set of stock rims for the snow tires;

- some other approach?

I'm not into rims for the bling factor. I just want them to look reasonable (e.g. preferably no bare steel rims), and I want them to be durable enough to stand up to chewed-up wintertime roads, salt, etc.

For my S4, I bought inexpensive aftermarket rims for the snow tires. Two of them bent (I don't blame one of them--it was a big pothole), and the others have clearcoat bubbling and flaking off. I'd rather get rims that are at least better than those.

TIA for any input.

OEM for winter, 18" for summer. Make sure to wax your oem wheels so the winter chemicals don't destroy the finish...and clean them frequently. That will help the finish stand the test of time. I did that on my OEM 17" for my allroad, used them for winter, and after 50K miles, they still looked new.
