kent55
I noticed a wet spot under where I park and looked underneath to find a Goldish color liquid dripping off the transmission. It's dripping off next to the transmission drain plug, but the front Passenger Side half shaft is wet. It's a 2007 2.5i stick shift. First, Is this oil and trans fluid? Second, could this be the half shaft going bad or a seal somewhere inside the transmission needing replaced? I think this half shaft has been replaced when the clutch was replaced 3 years ago. apexi
Looks like the passenger side axle seal is leaking. Unless the fluid is new, or newer, I would drain the transmission and replace the seal. Driver side and passenger seals are different, and have different part numbers. I've been able to install axle seals with my thumb, but it's hard to do, and almost break my thumb every time. I plan to get these tools at some point, to make things easier. http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/crr-oil-seal-installer-and-axle-protector-254753.html *oh also, before anything else I would check your transmission fluid level. kent55
I didn't realize I could see the CV shafts so easily from the top side. And love the dip stick. http://i774.photobucket.com/albums/yy26/kent55/IMG_20160925_132454554.jpg http://i774.photobucket.com/albums/yy26/kent55/IMG_20160925_133155660.jpg
kent55
Are these common to go bad?
kent55
I had the seal replaced today with the Subie brand. Thanks for the TIP. That was it.
