nhesketh
Hey all, Well, I took my XT into Casey after not being able to solve a #4 misfire with plug, coil pack, and injector, and they are telling me the engine is toast. They want to sell me a new one including labor for about $7K. Is there anyone here who knows a decent mechanic who can either rebuild or replace? I am going to pick up the car today, and am seriously thinking about buying something else used short-term and maybe fixing up the wagon, seeing as I am kinda attached to it. neil
schado
Did you find someone Nhesketh? I really need to check the local forums more often. Casey? Blah... 08 NBP Legacy GT BNR16G E85 13 WRB WRX. TBE & Tune 07 FXT Sports. Stock
nhesketh
Well, I looked around in some other Subi forums and found All Access Motorsports down in Chesapeake. Talked to them, and they can get a new short block, have the heads machined, and put it all back in for $7K, which is still more than I think I want to spend on this car. I am seriously perusing craigslist for something else. Maybe one of those $2500 2011 Acuras...LOL neil
schado
Haha, I understand. There is also DIA Automotive in the VB area, whom I have had good experiences with. Additionally, up in Richmond there is a place called J-Spec Auto that imports used JDM goodies, to include engines. You may be able to peruse the site and see what they have available. It wouldn't hurt to call them either, as their inventory is more expansive than what they usually have listed on their site at times. 08 NBP Legacy GT BNR16G E85 13 WRB WRX. TBE & Tune 07 FXT Sports. nhesketh
Thanks schado, I checked out J-Spec and that is a possibility. Haven't heard about DIA; I may look into them when I get some time this week. Thanks again for the tips. neil neil
