Bob H
Hi all I have a weird problem - my wife heard a strange noise when opening the trunk (boot), and found that the trunk lid did not pop up like it usually does. Upon examination, its clear that the torsion bar has slipped or something retaining it has broken, and it can be easily moved by hand. The service manual talks about using a special tool to remove and replace the torsion bar - any tips on how to get it back in place without this tool? Also, any suggestions on why it has slipped out? Are there any retaining clips or brackets that may have broken or slipped? I cannot see anything broken but I'm not exactly sure what I'm looking for. It would be much appreciated if some one could photograph their torsion bars (with the boot lid open of course) and post, so I can compare what I see with what is meant to be - the service manual does not provide much of a visual representation of what a correctly installed set up looks like Regards, Bob
apexi
Here are some older pictures I have that could be helpful. http://legacygt.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=194891&d=1414015469 http://legacygt.com/forums/showpost.php?p=4823924&postcount=7 I wouldn't be too worried trying to put one back into place. However you have to be very careful when trying to remove them, they're under a lot of tension and could really hurt you.
