DIY Rear Subframe Lock Down Kit / Whiteline KDT905 Install

-Perrin Pitch Stop Mount

-Ralli Tek 5eat Trans Bushing Insert (Hard)

-Whiteline KDT927

-Whiteline KDT905

-DIY Subframe Lock Down Kit

So I bought the Perrin Subframe Lockdown Kit http://perrinperformance.com/i-13324087-subframe-lockdown-kit-for-2008-14-wrx-sti.html thinking I could maybe make it work with the rear subframe of my OBXT. The installation and subframe look the same but the Perrin bushing are much to large as the mounts for the OBXT subframe are much smaller in diameter.

Since no company seems to sell a subframe lockdown kit for the the 05-09 LGT/OBXT and after seeing how the Perrin one is supposed to be used I decided to make my own insert bushings to fill the voids in the subframe mounts in the exact same way the Perrin kit is intended to be used.

Installation was very similar to this video with minor adjustments based on the differences in the subframe.

Tools/Materials Used

-Power Drill

-Whole Saw Kit

-Poly Cutting Board (1/4" or 3/8") Not sure Exactly

-Bushing Grease

Here it is sitting between the subframe and the frame. The white bushing slid into the void once the bolt was inserted and tightened.

I also installed the Whiteline KDT905 kit at the same time. I thought that the bushing that came on the rear crossmember had voids in them that could be filled with another Whitline Kit but both bushing where solid on my car. Either way getting them pressed out with a press and inserting the new KDT905 kit was a breeze and installation took maybe and hour for the whole process. Watch out those stock bushing are full of grease and may explode when getting pressed out. It happened to one of mine during the process.

Overall shifting feels pretty good with everything that has been upgraded driveline wise. Of course there is a decent amount of NVH but I enjoy it.
