Power lock problems. 99 get door/ 95 L chassis

Recommended Posts

Hey gangsters

I used to have a door which was dented, mirrors busted and windows that didn't go up or down. BUT the locks worked in that if I locked/unlocked the driver door, all the doors opened/ closed. Anyways a junk yard trip produced a 99 GT door that was in perfect condition. I had the door put on by my mechanic and didn't want to have to deal with the old door so I said get rid of it.

Fast forward couple months and I'm tired of having to manually lock all the doors. So I want to restore the power lock function to how it was. The 99 door has an extra door cord which is a red wire with green stripe and a lime colored wire. It seems this harness goes to the security/keyless system. I don't care to have that.

It seems that the 95 driver door has an actuator and the 99 doesn't (???) can someone help me figure this out?

I basically got it so that if I stuff the red and green wires into pins 21 and 24 of the door cord I get a reaction from the locks. It doesn't restore locking ability so much as just "flexes" the locks.

Someone please help

If I were you I would go to a pull it yourself yard and remove the door wiring from a 95 model like yours and install it in your door. I like the wiring diagrams from Mitchell better than the Subaru ones... much easier to read. Did you access them online?

Also get the actuator and the key lock cylinder switch out of the 95 door if possible. The harness in my 98 wagon drivers door has a second 2 pin connector which it appears the 99 is missing. The actuator is attached to the door latch assembly in most cases. So I would say get the wiring harness and the door latch assembly out of a 95-98 model. Sorry, Its the best advice I can give you.

the primary difference between these doors is how the ''all lock'' is triggered.

on the 95 -96 cars the key or the door lock lever activated all.

on the 97 - 99 cars there is a separate ''door lock'' button.

the key or door lock lever only activate the single door.

i'm sure all the actual hardware is present.

id be surprised if the mechanic cut out the 95 wiring and put the 99 wiring in, since that would be a lot of time that wasnt needed. the 95 has no actuator, the all door open was triggered by the key. i had to add an actuator to my 96 GT when i put an alarm in, it works well so far. i would think the 99 already had an actuator in it, since that one had the option of keyless entry/ security. you need to pop open that panel and see what is actually in there.

here is the layout for the doors, it will tell you part numbers and everything you need to figure out that door. http://opposedforces.com/parts/legacy/us_b11/type_8/body/front_door_parts_latch_and_handle/
