JollyLauncher
Just started over the weekend (AFAIK) but never overheated and I've been keeping the oil and coolant full (oil in coolant but not coolant in oil-yet). Just want to confirm 3000-3500 estimated cost (from Smart Service in Shoreline) if there's no super-fun additional damage to be found. I need this ASAP as I can't figure out how to attach my son's car seat to my motorcycle. Any PNW suggestions or offers of prayer greatly appreciated. SpecFast
I've seen the oil coolers in Volvo's go bad and cause the oil to mix into the coolant but I'm not to sure about the Legacy's. Sent from my SM-G925V using Tapatalk
JollyLauncher
That was brought up as a possible point of failure but every mechanic swears they've never seen it in a Subaru. Thanks! I'm now at $2300 for the gasket at Harvey's on 145th. Probably replace the clutch and rear seal while the engine's out.
FJuan
Have you done the pressure test to see if there is bubbles in your coolant system? My wife's balls are delicious.
JollyLauncher
Harvey's is doing that test as we speak, thanks for the suggestion! Decided to do the clutch and rear seal while the engine is out. Went with the EXEDY FJK1001FW OEM Replacement Clutch Kit from Amazon after reading about people mostly positive experiences. We'll see how I do with the lighter flywheel, I'm a big guy (6'6") and my clutch has never felt heavy (and I've worn a hole through the driver's side floor mat, the carpet and the pad to bare metal ) so fingers are crossed. Gex
Let us know how your experience is. $2300 for a full headgasket job with machining and labor is pretty decent imo.
Sgt.Gator
Are you doing new timing components, water pump, head decking, and all the other stuff you should probably be doing once you've torn the engine apart or just slapping in new HGs and calling it good? Nothing like a race track to find the weak points in man and machine. "Good Judgement comes from Experience.
