RumbleRumble
Yeah I know get the KYB's and springs from the dealer but money is tight at the moment and my struts are toast. I found quick struts online but I can't tell if there is a difference since all the pics look the same and nobody has reviewed them. What choice would you go with?:spin: The Macs are the more expensive at 300$ for a set while the other choices go for 180-200$ BuyAutoParts-http://www.amazon.com/Brand-Complete-Front-Spring-Assembly/dp/B00YJL8QS4/ref=sr_1_1?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1456969003&vehicle=2001-13-64-151--1-6-6-167-108-1-1-452--2-0&sr=1-1&ymm=2001%3Asubaru%3Alegacy&keywords=quick+struts Mac Auto Parts- [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Mac-Auto-Parts-Complete-Assembly/dp/B015WOYC20/ref=sr_1_6?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1456968048&vehicle=2001-13-64-151--1-6-6-167-108-1-1-452--2-0&sr=1-6&ymm=2001%3Asubaru%3Alegacy&keywords=struts+complete+assembly]Amazon.com: Mac Auto Parts 145276 F Complete Quick Coil Spring Strut Mount Assembly set for Subaru Legacy: Automotive[/ame] Unity- http://www.carid.com/2001-subaru-legacy-suspension-parts/unity-automotive-replacement-complete-strut-assemblies-66590040.html FCS- http://www.carid.com/2001-subaru-legacy-suspension-parts/fcs-complete-strut-assembly-62849031.html
08SpecB_DE
The only brand I recognize is FCS and they are horrible! I'm sorry, I can only comment on personal experience. I'd look for Monroe or Moog and see if they are available in your price range.

GTPpilot
I've used Quick Struts on another vehicle and liked them a lot. I wish they made them for the 4th gen.
RumbleRumble
After more research(an hour or so). I get can get 2 New OEM springs for less then 80$. Two Kyb struts for 140$ and Monroe strut mounts for about 39$ each. Making it about 300$ total. I just don't trust those quick struts I posted. wingfoot3a
The big question is how much can you afford, I put KYB's with mounts, it still cost me ~ $700.00. The FCS assy. just seem too good to be true.
RumbleRumble
I got Kybs 65$ on ebay. OEM springs for 40$ and KYB strut mount for 40$ a mount, 290$ for everything.
bplaxton
I have a broken coil spring, and with 280+ km new front struts wouldn't hurt. I really like the quick strut idea as I don't want to mess with sketchy spring compressors. Anybody else out there with positive quick strut experiences? Its too bad Monroe or someone like that doesn't make them
coreyh29645
im a parts guy. you can't buy aftermarket springs from "normal" aftermarket companies here in the states. the moog ons online do not fit. the part number listed fit an old GM vehicle like a tempest. i looked it up to order them and found that out. buy the springs from subaru like i did and save yourself the headaches. RumbleRumble
Go on Subaru.com parts site get the OEM spring part number and Google search em. I each spring for 40$ a spring
bplaxton
I got the springs for US$110 ($38 of that for shipping) and KYB struts for CDN$290 (free shipping). This is only saving me a little (maybe $20) over local dealer on the springs, quite a bit more on the struts, well over $

bplaxton
subarupartsdepot.com is telling me that the passenger side coil spring 20330AE46A is no longer available. I noticed on some other parts websites that the part wasn't listed. What do people run in its place? My vehicle is a 2003 legacy L SE 5MT wagon. Its the passenger side coil that is broken and must be replaced.
bplaxton
here are pics of the broken coil spring. The break is in the bottom winding that is fully supported by the strut's 'bowl'. My question for experts here: does the coil spring need to be replaced? I don't believe the position of the break affects the driveability of the car at all. I'm not sure whether that under certain situations (eg strut bottoming out harshly) the strut bowl might allow the coil to release. I've already ordered/received new struts and a new driver's side coil spring. The passenger side coil spring apparently can only be sourced used. RumbleRumble
you need a new spring, that where most of the tension is, don't reuse that one. Get springs for a GT limited.
grantd1998
I gave up on the struts when I had to replace them a second time in my car. Don't buy anything cheap, and some of the cheaper stuff on ebay is fake. I picked up some ISC coilovers for $850 and I love them.
RumbleRumble
I found some Cusco coilovers used for 500$ unknown miles they look good. I just don't know how to go about rebuilding them and where to source the parts.
