Engine Swaps

Recommended Posts

I recently spoke with a local impreza owner who mentioned he put an EJ208 into his 2nd gen legacy by converting it to a single turbo. my questions are 1. is the USDM BE wiring harness the same as the JDM BE sedan and 2. has anyone done a EJ208 swap on a BE. i am looking for a work up. i'd like to explore my options for my 01 BE

sorry but that is the best i can do.

i haven't even read what is on that link.

byt i do know there is a source for ''how to turbo'' questions.

i thought that was it.

generally speaking, to co0nvert a non-turbo car to a turbo car you need 3 things:

1/ engine with turbo

2/ the ECU and the matching wire harness.

3/ the modified cross member and all the exhaust work.

personally i think it is a waste of time and money.

it is probably better, faster and cheaper to sell what you have and buy a car w/ a factory turbo.

there are not many available 95 - 04, wrx only?????

but lots to choose from after that.

and even a few before that.

good luck with your project.

Ivan do know if the ECU for the EJ208 plug into the stock wire harness? it's a USDM N/A btw

The EJ208 ECU will plug into the stock harness for a vehicle that came with that engine stock. Otherwise, you'll probably have to either swap your harness out/splice in the new ECU connections.

In other words, get a swap that comes with the complete engine, all sensors, wiring, body harness, and subframe. It should be a pretty much plug and play affair!
