To me that looks like a fourth gen outback but I could be wrong! Bonus points for definitive model year The car on the image stopped and stole the dog in the picture. Thanks for your help! And the body side cladding. The tail lights seem to match. Even the handle to the right of the license plate and the location of the badge on the lift gate match. The lower bumper reflectors don't show but neither does the red on the tails very well, so it's just image quality and shadow. The proportions of the camera image are compressed a little vertically. The black car parked next to the dog, I'm willing to bet, isn't something sold here in the states. The car next to that looks like a newer Hyundai Elantra. The car is question is a '01-'05 Santa Fe and the car coming in the opposite direction on the road might be is a 9th gen Mitsubishi Galant. No chance the car in question is an Outback, of any year. Outbacks had one continuous side cladding body line from front to back. It's really hard to tell from that picture, but it looks like there is a rear spoiler on the car. The side lines don't look like an Outback, the upper line is reflecting light a lot differently.
