Compression specs help ... H6

Recommended Posts

So about to buy a h6 motor for a swap and the company said it has 150psi compression on all cylinders... Subaru says it should be 180-200 psi. The company states they did the compression cold. Has a 60day warranty but still concerned...

What's your take on cold compression?

As the engine warms up, the metal rings will expand giving it a less of a gap between the cylinder wall and the piston grooves.

A hot test using differential pressure testing will indicate where loss is occurring.

Do your own test, note how many pumps it took to get the highest reading on each cylinder, letting the cylinders pump 5-8 times to get a accurate reading.
