Turbo vs Non Turbo Outback Hoods

Mine is really heavy.

 

But to confirm that I didn't have some extra heavy aluminum, I just went outside with a magnet and it stuck.

 

I'll confirm that my 08 xt also has a steel hood. My 2006 2.5i and a buddy's 05 LGT has an aluminum hood.

I am glad we are solving the case of the steel hood!

 

I really want a CF one, but not enough to ever consider paying for it.

 

I think CF and DGM would look good together.

I am going to do the same for both my 05 and 06 to confirm. My 05 was in a wreck before I got it, but not the 06, and they both feel equally heavy.

 

I confirm that both my 05 and 06 obxts have aluminum hoods . I am surprised they are that heavy. I also checked the tailgate, same result.

Most of the CF hoods are trash. They eliminate the ducting for the TMIC. It's a downgrade in most cases.

 

And on STi's the stock alum hood is lighter than the aftermarket CF's

I've been thinking about swapping my 09 OBXT steel hood for an 05-09 LGT aluminum hood. Of course this would also mean that I need to swap to a JDM facelift bumper, but that also means I can run an S402 grille.
