tvsubaru
Recently added another Subaru to the family over the summer a 2004 Subaru Legacy 2.5l over the summer for my sister. One of the only problems with it is the ac compressor. The bearing has some play in it and needs replaced. Being that it is winter I just pulled the a/c belt and she has been driving it like that. I cant seem to get the clutch off of the front of the compressor. I initially removed the center bolt on the compressor and tried this to remove it: http://www.subaruforester.org/vbulletin/f87/how-adjust-c-compressor-clutch-116835/ All that I did was bend the bolts that I was using. Does anyone have any other advice or suggestions? I'm going to try again with some higher grade bolts and the master a/c clutch tool kit from Auto Zone. GTEASER
I wouldn't bother spending the time or effort. Just get a used compressor from a salvage yard.
